Is Less Urination In An Infant A Cause Of Concern?

Hi, my baby is 4 month old. I noticed lately that he passes urine less. If he gets his diapers changed at 6pm, it will be wet with maybe two times of urinating when I change the diapers the next morning at around 6. In between I wont change as it will be dry. I breastfeed after 6pm. Other times he drinks formula milk. Water will be given time to time. I can safely say he drinks water about 3 times daily. Please advise me on this matter as I feel he urinates less and I fear his body lacks water.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Reduce the water unless directed by his doctor.

It is important to remember that there stomach is very small and needs to be filled with substances that will help them grow and develop.
Water has no calories, it will fill there little bellies and do absolutely nothing for them.

No calories, no brain and body growth. Water is present in breast milk and formula, he gets it there.
Only if directed by his doctor should you give him repeated water.

He needs milk to grow, not water, too much can actually cause babies to be underweight.

If you and his doctor think he needs more fluids, then he needs more milk.

I hope this helps
