Is Losartan Effective For BP?

I take a new bp pill losartan 50 mg for 2 weeks now my bp ranges from 157/80 to 180/ 97 the dr told me it is just anxiety I took 20 mg Librium and it still is 174/84 right now is that ok I am 72 but in good health I only take a thyroid pill and vitamins

Hi. Losartan is a very good anti hypertensive agent. You should have a salt restricted diet and exercise daily. Losartan takes abt three wks for maximum effect. You will need the drug to be titrated after that period. Patients may require multiple drugs for bp control. Your target will be less than 140/80. Take care.
