Is Losing Excessive Weight Loss Normal After A Esophageal Cancer Surgery?

My husband was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and was operated on by removing part of his esophagus and his stomach. This operation was in May, 2017. He was in the hospital for three weeks and lost a lot of weight. Since he has been home, he has continued to lose weight and whatever he eats never stays down very long. Is this common and takes time to heal or should we have him put on feeding? He still has a tube in him that is going to his intestine.

Hello,

It does take time to heal dear and the tube will help him in his nutrition . Give it time and he will be able to take food subsequently.

Hope I have answered your query.
