Is Lower Back Pain In A Toddler A Matter Of Concern?

my 3 year old daughter jumped up and threw her legs out in front of her and sat HARD on her butt. She gave me a horrid look like she was hurt, i think she knocked breath out herself because her face was kind of blue. Now her lower back hurts. She is asleep now (it was passed bedtime when it happened) should i not worry? i am worried about spinal injury but she was moving fine and all that. Now im going to be up all night watching her sleep!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a contusion or simple musculoskeletal pain. As a first line management you can give paracetamol syrup for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist better to consult a pediatrician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you all the best. Thank you.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
