Is Lower Back Pain While Standing A Symptom Of Herniated Disc?

I have been having lower back pain which seems to change. When I stand for a lengthy time and then sit I experience severe pain while sitting. After work when I go to bed I have back pain and right hip pain. Sometimes one or both legs go numb when standing. Would this be a symptom of a herniated disk?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It can be a sign of prolapsed disc and nerve impingement. Consult a neurologist and get evaluated. Drugs like gabapentin can be tried for symptomatic relief. An MRI scan can be taken for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
