Is Lumbar Plexus Block Advisable For Chronic Pain In A CRPS Patient?
I am recently diagnosed with CRPS. I have had continued pain following total knee replacement last October. The pain management nurse practitioner initially suggested the Coolief procedure. A doctor came in briefly and, without much interaction with me said, No, she needs a lumbar plexus block. This is not the doctor scheduled to do the procedure. I m not certain I want to go through with the procedure knowing that this particular hospital ignored my adverse reaction drug list when I had the surgery (I had to go to this group because it s what the insurance folks said I needed to do). My confidence level is not real high. Acupuncture was no help (the nurse practitioner said it may work & gave me a referral. It left me with swelling and bruises). My PT guy is certified to treat CRPS, I ve seen him three times and although nothing miraculous has happened, I have some small improvement in pain level and movement. I d appreciate any input you d have.
