Is Mantoux Test Necessary For 5 Year Old Having Lot Of Cough?
My five and half year old daughter had lot of cough and after removing the xray there was little cought shown but after showing the doctio he said the child looks ok and is active but doctor still to clear his doubt has asked to go in to monto test. is it okay to go in for this test.
Mantoux test may be done in children if there is a strong suspicion of tuberculosis. It is performed by injecting 0.1 ml of tuberculin purified protein derivative (PPD) into the inner surface of the forearm. The injection should be made with a tuberculin syringe. If your child has a Mantoux test, it is important to bring them back in two or three days to have the result of the test checked. The reaction can get itchy but scratching the test site may cause an infection, so it is best to encourage your child not to touch it. If your child gets blisters around the spot where the injection was given, do not break them.
