Is Memory Loss A Side Effect Of Gabapentin And Meloxicam?

Yes, thank you. I am 74 years old and my doctor just prescribed gabapentin 100mg along with meloxicam as I complained of headack pain on left side of my head; and I never get headacks. She did an MRI of the brain and said I was fine. However I read report and it said there was some white matter that was not there 3 years ago. I m not sure I want to take this gabapentin as I researched and found out a side effect is memory loss, What do you think?

Hi;

Although gabapentin may cause symptoms like you suffered, I suggest that you should be cheched for possible thyroid hormone and B12&folic acid deficiencies. If you are a smoker, you must stop smoking immediately as it contributes memory loss by both causing atherosclerosis and brain cell damage. Finally, if not checked; vessel system of brain (carotid arteries&vertebrobasillar system) must be checked for occlusions&stenoses.
