Is Meprate Recommended For Abortion?
hello sir. my wife period missed 12 day's....result is positive...we don'nt want baby this time.gyne suggest MEPRATE tablate.this tablate is useful for abortion. if it's not good for abortion..please suggest me which medicine is good and secure for pregnancy abortion..which available in India.

Generally meprate doe not use for abortion.
It contain medroxyprogesterone.
It used for It is used for
the treatment of secondary amenorrhoea
abnormal uterine bleeding
mild endometriosis
Regulate the period
You should use mifeprex abortion kit under the supervision of gynecologist to prevent complication of kit.
Kit contain five tablet-
One tablet of Mifepristone 600 mg (One tablet) take orally after meal
After 24 hr of oral tablet, put four tablet of misoprostol in to vagina under the supervision of gynecologist
With in 1-2 hours of punting tablet in to vagina , bleeding will come out and that is conception product/embryo.
If withdrawal bleeding will not come , double dose may be needed in some case
Slight Bleeding and abdominal cramp may continue for 4-6 days.
Follow up USG is needed to confirm the incomplete abortion.
After using kit take following advice:
Proper rest
Tablet meftal spas
Healthy diet with adequate vitamin and mineral supplemets
Drink lots of drinks
Relaxation and stretching exercise
Take fruits like papaya, orange and pineapple
Maintain pelvic hygiene
Wear pure cotton loose inner wear
Use safer sex practice to avoid unwanted pregnancies.
Also check for foul smelling vaginal discharge for infection.

Meprate contain synthetic progesterone. It should not used for abortion. It is used to regularize the period, in PCOS, endometriosis, to delay the period.
Abortion should be done by gynecologist's prescribed MTP kit under supervision and guidance.But this medicine should be take after USG scan to confirm intrauterine and gestational age of pregnancy. Mifeprsitone should be followed by the misoprostol under the guidance of gynecologist.
200 mg mifepristone should be followed by 400 ug misoprostol vaginally/orally after 48 hour, another 400 ug dose after 4 hour if needed.
Follow up USG should be done after 14 days for checking successful abortion and other complication.Do not take at home as it causes serious complication that can not managed at home.
