Is Metallic Taste And Excessive Salivation Sign Of Pregnancy?

My wife is a week late on her period, and took a pregnancy test. The test showed negative. But she still hasn t gotten here period and now complains of having a metallica taste in her mouth through the day and excess saliva times. Could she be pregnant but not showing yet on a test? What else could cause the metallic taste on and off at times?

Hello dear
Understand your concern
Metallic taste and excessive salivation are not symptoms of pregnancy. Most cardinal sign of pregnancy is missed period.
Following are the cause of mettalic taste and excessive salivation:
Vitamin B12/folic acid and iron deficiency, acid reflux, ulcer in mouth, antibiotic use, hyperthyroidism, injury to taste bud.
If your period will delayed by 8-12 days then you have to go for pregnancy test. But I think it will come positive. You have to go for thyroid hormone testing as in hyperthyroid also delayed period will occur.
Take healthy diet with iron supplements, tablet revital, maintain proper oral hygiene, do gargling with colgate plax.
Hope this may help you
Best regards
