Is Metformin Effective In Controlling The Sugar Up To 384?

Dear Dr. XXXXX,

My name is Antony. I am diabetic. Normaly it ls below 300. Today I felt week and could not speak properly. I went to the Lab and tested my blood sugar and it is 384. This is after the breakfast. Now i am taking metformin 1000 g
twice daily. This morning also i took 1 tb. Could you please advise me?

Hi Antony,

Although you are taking Metformin 1000g twice daily (a high dose); your blood sugar is 384 (high); then, your health status should be further evaluated:

- perhaps you are not following a healthy diet with certain foods restriction
- or perhaps your daily physical activity is not enough to lower blood sugar

At this point, you should strictly follow a healthy diet and lifestyle together with starting another medication to lower blood glucose from the sulfonylurea group for example.

You can discuss it further with your doctor!

Metformin has the role in controlling mainly the fasting blood sugar . since ur Post prondial blood sugar is high u need to take insulin secrtogauges ( ie insulin producing medications). Tab Glimy 2 mg 2 times daily Before food. And u need to have strict Diabetic diet.

Hello

Your blood sugar is very high and it is a poor glycerin control state. This puts you at the risk of developing diabetic related complications.
In this situation my advice is
Blood sugar above 250 mg / dl requires insulin.
Once your blood sugar is well controlled you may stop insulin and try oral hypoglycemic drugs. Metformin alone may not be helpful to control the blood sugar.
