Is Metronizole Harmful In Pregnancy?

hi, im currently 29 weeks pregnanat and prescribed 500mg of metronizole. I was told that it can be harmful to my baby but my doctor never said this, the pharmacist did. I am also type 2 diabetic, not sure if that makes a difference, but is it safe to take this medicine? will it harm my baby any way or is that fact still unknown?
