Is Mild Pain In Spleen A Concern For A Mono Patient?

I have recently been diagnosed with mono. It was three and a half weeks ago. I got over the symptoms quite quickly and began exercising again. Today, the doctor felt my spleen and it was not enlarged anymore (Enough that she could tell) and told me to ease back into working out. Since I had been, I felt that I could go back in a little quicker, so I played some light basketball. Tonight, the spleen area is tender to the touch, and feels like when it was enlarged. I know ruptures can happen so its freaking me out a little. I know I overhype myself often with medical conditions, but I just needed some reassurance. Should I be worried?

Hi,

No, nothing to worry about splenomegaly. In any infection like mono, spleen get enlarged and after as infection subsidies it will come to normal. Kindly continue medications for mono after physician consultation. Take proper rest. Keep your self hydrated. You may require antibiotics after consultation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale,
