Is Miscarriage Possible On Withdrawal From Synthyroid?

I have a hx of a blighted ovum in 2013 then in 2014 had a healthy baby. After i gave birth my TSH was 5.1 and when checked in early february of 2015 they came down to a 3.1. I just found out i am pregnant (only 5 days passed since missed period). Do i have a chance of miscarrying? Should i be put on synthroid?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear patient,

for non pregnant people the TSH range 0,3 – 4,0 mU/l is considered normal.

In pregnancy it is a little different: recommended TSH in the first trimester is 0,1 - 2,5 mU/l, second trimester 0,2 - 3,0 mU/l and third trimester of pregnancy 0,3 - 3,0 mU/l.

So it is advisable you take a small dose like 25-50 mikrogramm synthyroid, after checking with your gyn or gp doctor to be in the best range possible for giving your pregnancy the best chances.

Hope this is helping you , if you have any clarificatons you can get back to me, if this was helpful please kindly rate my answer. Best regards
