Is Missed Bowel Movement In Spite Of Taking Multiple Medications A Cause For Concern?
Currently taking 15mg Oxycodone QID haven t had a bowel movement in 4 days, normally for me once a day. Took first dose of Movantik yesterday, have tried glycerin suppositories as well as A fleet, also drank a bottle of Mag Citrate 3 hours ago, nothing... At what stage do I call a impaction and go to the ER?
hi thank you for asking the queation and welcome to HCM. i would like to answer your concern of not passing stool. oxycodone is an opioid analgesic like other opioid analgesic it also affects on gastro intestinal motility. oxycodon is contraindicated in case of intestinal obstruction and one should be carefull if any underlying gastric or intestinal problem is there. i would suggest gradual dose decrease to see the improvement of condition. but if you still not see any improvement and if you could not pass gases also then you must consult your physician or nearby hospital to rule out any gastrointestinal obstruction or any other underlying disease. feel free to ask any doubt. thank you. regards dr. abhijit
