Is Morning After Pill Safe To Be Taken Along With Citalopram?
I have recently started taking citalopram 10mg for depression and panic disorder. I use to get my period but due to stress it hasn t come for months.. The other day I had sex. And am really anxious, so I am wanting to take the morning after pill, but I am worried that it might react with citalopram, and have a really bad effect. Or I ll have a bad reaction to mixing the two together ??.
The morning after pill works best if taken within the first 24 hours though it can still have an effect if used withinn 72 hours. If this time frame has passed then it may not make any sense to use it now.
Depressiona and anxiety can cause a delay in the period so this may be contributing to the problem that you are experiencing.
There are some drugs that do interact but citalopram is not known to interact with levonorgestrel which is the main emergency contraceptive, this is plan b. It is not likely to interact with others either.
I hope this helps
