Is Mucus Or E Coli Significant Here?

Good day doctor Samuel ---- my ua came back normal, but it said mucus/hpf, few ; and wnl range it also showed e. coli at 100,000/ml. I am post menopausal and my ua has never shown these 2 readings before. so is there any significance to the mucus or e. coli ? thanks much, Karen staggs

Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I have gone through your reports.
E.coli is gram negative bacteria and it is the most common cause for urinary tract infection (UTI).
If it is present in lower numbers than no need to worry much about this.
But in your report e.coli count is very high. Almost 1 lakh per ml. This suggest significant UTI.
So I advice you to get done urine culture and sensitivity to guide antibiotic therapy.
You may need antibiotics for atleast 10-15 days
Hygiene of private part is must. Drink plenty of water.
Consult your doctor and discuss all these and start treatment accordingly.
