Is My SGPT Value 65.7 Normal?

Gd Eve Doctor,

I am 50 male, Ht: 5.7, Wt: 69 kg: I am a moderate drinker for last several years, my recent Liver profile shows Serum SGPT value as 65.7

The renal & Lipid profile are OK.

My avg Hb A1c value is 6.3.

What does this value indicate?

Thanks for writing to HCM

Increased SGPT indicates liver injury.Increase in ALT may be due to many reasons like hepatitis,alcohol intake,altered lipid profile,medicines,auto immune causes etc.
In your case,it is most likely due to history of alcohol intake.You also need GGT estimation.It is specific for alcoholic liver injury.
You need few other investigations like routine hemogram,Random blood sugar(RBS),Liver function test(LFT),ultrasound of abdomen.Further investigations can be done if needed.

You should avoid red meat,high fat milk products and avoid alcohol completely.

Proper treatment depend upon findings
