Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 31, 63 Inches height, 65 kgs wt, well toned athletic built, a sportsman. Have borderline bp 140/90 - no medication. Recently did lipid profile - Total Cholesterol (191), HDL (43), LDL (133), VLDL(14), Triglyserides (74). Are these numbers alarming? Can I lower my cholesterol levels merely by lifestyle changes?
Your total cholesterol should b below 180 and triglycerides below 130, You have them at bit more than normal values, but you should start lowering from now because its difficult as u grow older, See daily regular exercises, No alcohol, Less oily diet, eat baked, grilled, shallow fried rather than deep fried, don't use extra butter, salt oil on food, Have salads and diet rich in fibers with every food. Hope this information helps
