Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, My lipid profile is cholesterol 148,triglycerides 98,HDL 65, LDL62, Chol/HDL ratio 2.3 LDL/HDL ratio 1, VLDL 19.6, glucose fasting 97. I am 59 years old female Please let me know if this is OK and if not what should I do .I have diabetes and I am on Metmorfin.
Respected Madam Thanks for your query. Yes, it seems fine. But you must consult your physician as all diabetics should be on statins (a class of lipid lowering medicines), irrespective of their lipid levels, life long as per latest recommendations of American college of cardiology. Otherwise your lipid profile is optimal. Your fasting blood sugar is also within normal limits. However type II diabetes is best monitored by HBA1C every 3 month. Sincerely Sukhvinder
