Is My Medication Right For Extreme Tongue Sensitivity To Pepper?

Dear Doctor,
I have developed an extreme tongue sensitivity to black and white pepper and hot peppers. I was hoping I could find out if one of my medications is causing it. I have researched it long and hard to no avail. I take the medicines Depacote ER, Zoloft, Seroquel, Metformin, thyroxin, Vit D, and B complex.
I hope you can help.
Thank you,
Lynn

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that sensitivity of tongue to peppers seems to be due to dryness in mouth caused due to medication leading to inflammation inside mouth caused due to thinning of the mucosa due to dry mouth..

ll the medication other than vitamin B can cause dry moth and as you are taking a number of medications these medications can be causing the problem for you..
So dose reduction of medications and eliminating the drugs can be done by your physician to relieve the symptoms..

As of now you can start gargling with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine to relieve the symptoms.
You can also take a multivitamin tablet daily..
You can take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
Suck ice and do cool water rinses..
Avoid spicy food..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
