Is Nipple Discharge A Symptom Of Breast Cancer?

hello doctor, iam 25 yr old female.i'm having watery nipple discharge when i press my right breast.i went to the doctor,and she suggested mammogram.the test result is found that benign small fibroids are present.i heeard that nipple discharge is one of the symptom of breast cancer,is it correct?please help me what to do...?

Firstly, at your age, a mammogram is not sensitive enough. All patients below 35 years of age should undergo breast ultrasound and not mammogram. So get a breast ultrasound done. If it still shows benign looking lesions, then get a cytology of the discharge fluid done. If it is also normal, then there is nothing to worry about. Nipple discharge is a symptom of breast cancer but not all nipple discharges are due to cancer. A large majority of these in your age group are due to benign lesions.
