Is Nipple Discharge Upon Stimulation A Cause For Concern?

This may sound ridiculous, but I have always wanted to get my nipples pierced. I m a girl, and my nipples are inverted. However, when my nipples are stimulated there s some white milky discharge that is present. It doesn t leak out or anything, it s just there. I got an ultrasound and there s nothing wrong with them at all, and the doctors say just avoid stimulation but that s pretty much impossible. Why are they saying this, and how bad would it be if I got them pierced?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Possible causes like hyperprolactinemia, a condition where there is excess production of prolactin and which in turn stimulate milk production must be ruled out. Consult a general surgeon and he will direct you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
