Is Normal EF Achievable?

I am 53 male with alcoholic cardiomyopathy just recently along with Afib which they going to fix with a cardioversion. My cardio seems to think he will get me back to normal Thank Goodness. Ejection Fracture now of 35. Can I reverse this to a normal EF of 50 following the programme and does that mean no drinking for the rest of ones life ? ( Moderation from now on of course. )

Hi.
Alcohol use can cause heart failure, atrial fibrillation, hypertension, stroke.
You should take medication for heart failure, hypertension (if u have) thiamine, and complete abstinence from alcohol.
Multiple studies have documented marked improvement in or, in some patients, normalization of cardiac function with abstinence.
yes, to avoid further progression, u have to completely abstein from alcohol.
consult your cardiologist for follow up.
consult your family doctor to rule out alcoholic liver disease.
