General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There are many women that would like to try a vaginal birth after cesarian sections. There are many cases that succeed to do so.
On the other hand, a woman should know that the risk for uterine rupture increases drastically after cesarian sections and the more previous cesarian sections the higher this risk. A uterine rupture is a sudden event that can not be predicted and can really jeopardize the life of the baby and the mother.
This is the reason why some doctors do not even take the responsibility of assisting a woman to have a vaginal birth after cesarian sections.

So it is possible to deliver vaginally after the cesarian section but risks for severe complications and even death of the child and mother do increase a lot (from 1 in 2000 to 1 in 200, thus the risk increases at least 10 folds).

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
