Is Not Wearing Brace For MCL Tear At Night Safe?

I tore my MCL and was prescribed a Breg Roadrunner brace to wear on my knee. I was instructed to wear it 24/7, but it is causing swelling and constriction in my ankle and I'm concerned about wearing it overnight. Is it okay to leave the brace off while I sleep (I do not toss and turn much and am very careful to keep my knee pain free)? Is there anything else I can do?
