Is Othrochrondritis Dessicans, Related With Muscle Spams?

my daughter hurt her knee in PE. We sent her to a orthropedic doctor that said she had othrochrondritis dessicans and it would heal without surgery. she has spasms that go throughout her body since this injury and they gave her medication for musle spasms. Is this normal. She never had these spasms before the injury
