Is Pain In Left Achilles Tendon Linked With Hypothyroidism?

HI. I have discovered that I have hypothyroidism. I've noticed that if I do not get my prescriptions filled promptly that my left achilles tendon really hurts when I have to walk a distance. When I'm on the meds and they are in my system, I don't have this problem. Are the two things related?

Hello,
Good day.
It is possible that the pain in achiles tendon may be related to hypothyroidism. You may also experience cramps in that area. Hypothyroidism changes the structure of muscles and the way they contract. Some people tend to develop enlargement of leg muscles too. It is important that you dont miss your tablets and it will take few weeks for improvvement to occur once you restart the medicines. Are you on any other pills like statins for cholesterol? There are many oter causes of achiles tendon pain including improper shoe size and walking style. If pain persists, please meet an orthopediaican
