Is Pain In Molars For Which Root Canal Has Been Done A Cause For Concern?

I had a double root canal about six years ago for my lower back two molars. I noticed I now have two upper teeth on the same side that have turned black. I ll for sure need root canals. However, I m experiencing pain in the lower two molars that already have root canals. Is this normal, or should I be concerned something is wrong with the lower root canals?

Hi..
Can understand you concern..

As per your complain blackening of upper two teeth may require just a filling or root canal treatment depending on the severity of decay of teeth and symptoms of pain.
It can only be decided by a dentist after thorough clinical evaluation and appropriate x rays.

As per the other half of your question you have two lower molars root canal treated and you have pain in it.
It can be due to recurrence of infection in the root canal treated teeth leading to infection as the infection in the upper jaw teeth can not cause pain in lower jaw teeth.

So I would suggest you to see a dental surgeon and get an IOPAR (x ray) done so that you can get evaluated for the cause of pain which can most commonly be due to recurrence of infection in the treated tooth/teeth or may also be due to over extended filling material reaching below the root tips causing inflammation.

In either case repetition of root canal treatment can resolve the pain..

Hope your query is solved..

Thanks and regards..
