Is Pain In Thigh Normal After Angioplasty?

I had a stent through my groin and angioplasy for a lower aorta 80 plus blockage, I am only 42 years old. Since my first step, I noticed a horrible pain in my lower thigh, burning, stabbing pain. It has now been 6 days, and it gets worse everyday, now even when sitting. I saw my doctor today, who never informed me of this complication and he told me 50 percent of people get nerve damage from this. I can not find numbers like this anywhere. How do I know he did not cut something. I did not take a pain meds at hospital, I consider myself to have a high pain tolerance, If I stand more then 5 minutes I it rotates to my back lower hip butt area and I can not stand. Is this normal, should I see a neruo, is it true that this happens to 50 percent? My doctor is not a good doctor and I did not find this out until afterwards. I am a police officer and not getting paid, I was told this would be at the most a week out of work, he is saying this could take weeks, months, years or maybe never to go away? I am going to lose my job my house, etc, but there is no way I can work now, never mind standing for more then 5 minutes.
