Is Pain In Torso Due To Pulled Muscle?

I m 71 yrs. old in good health. Two weeks ago I picked up a night stand more with my upper torso than with my knees etc. How foolish I know better. My right side still at times lets me know of my mistake. How can I tell if I have a pulled muscle or hernia? Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi thanks for asking question.

You gave lifted some weight.
So if you have muscular strain then pain will be there at affected torso site.
Normal muscle movement cannot occur at that site.
Rest , analgesic and hot compress useful for it.X ray if needed can be done.

If you developed hernia then it can be palpable by physical examination. With advance hernia swelling also visible on coughing.
It can be repaired surgically if present.

I hope your concern is solved.

Take care while doing work as you are old age.
