Is Painful Abdomen Due To Inflamed Diverticulitis?

I had diverticulitis about 8 years ago. Nothing since. I have noticed this past week that when I touch where my left ovary is, it is very sore or a little painful. Can this just be an inflamed diverticuli or is it an infection? I feel fine, no fever, no pain other than when I touch myself. I would not call myself constipated as I go each day BUT......I don t produce a lot. SO......I think I could prob go more. Could this be what is causing the discomfort?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello,

based on what you said, diverticulitis can be a probable cause of you pain. That said, diseases of ovary, a polyp in intestine and kidney problems must also be ruled out.
you will probably require some blood and urine tests, an ultrasound and CT abdomen.
if there is associated fever, it is due to active infection.

a trial of tab. ciprofloxacin 400mg twice daily for 5 days
tab. drotaverine 40mg once daily and
tab. diclofenac Na 50mg twice daily can be given.
Strongly recommended to see a physician.

wish you safe and speedy recovery.
