Is Painful Lump On Cheekbone Of A Child After Being Hit By A Ball A Cause For Concern?
My 5 year old was hit with a bocce ball to the cheek a couple weeks ago resulting in swelling and bruising to the right orbit and cheek. It has been about 3 weeks and she still has a small lump on her cheekbone that is painful to touch. What is this and how long can I expect it to remain?
As per the symptoms you explained about your child shows that your child has HEMATOMA formed due to injury..
As the bruising has subsided you need not to worry as the hematoma takes a longer duration of a month or so to resolve..
I would suggest you to do warm fomentations over the area and painkillers in paediatric doses can help if there is pain..
Gentle massage over the area is helpful if there is no pain..
If the condition does not improve consult a doctor to get ruled out for other conditions which can b caused due to trauma like Fibroma or bone fracture.
Hope your query is solved..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
