Is Painful Swelling In The Foot A Sign Of Gout?

i AM 71 YRS OLD i HAVE 2 HERNIATED DICS IN MY LOWER BACK AND DEGEN DISC DISEASE IN MY L-2 THRUL-5 i HAVE CONTROLLED DIABETES i HAVE BEEN HAVING PAIN IN MY RIGHT KNEE AND HAD AN XRAY DONE ON 12-31-16 AND THEY DIDN T FIND ANYTHING BUT THE LEG IS SWOLLEN DOWN TO MY FOOT AND IS VERY PAINFUL iS THIS A SIGN OF GOUT (ON MED FOR IT)

Painful foot can be due to following reasons:
1. Diabetic neuropathy.
2. Plantar fascitis.
3. Gout.
Gout generally manifests with pain and inflammation of great toe.
In any case, to rule out gout, you need to get your serum uric acid levels checked.
Following this, kindly consult Orthopedician for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
