Is Painless Vaccination Ineffective?

My son is 2 months old and his dpt,hib vaccine is due on 28 feb.he had received his first dose whih was painless but recently someone has told us that painless should not be given as its effectiveness decreases and baby should be given painful vaccine.is it true?
