Is Penicillin The Actual Cause Of My Baldness?

Doctor, I got rheumatic arthritis after 5-6 months of my delivery in 2004. I was advised to take penidure 12 laks every 21 days life long. After 2 yrs from then, I simultaneously took homeo treatment for more than 2 yrs n fortunately got it cured. So I took pencillin for more than 4 yrs. I ve been losing lot of hair from the time I started taking pencillin injection. I stopped pencillin in 2008 approx. now, my scalp is almost bald. I request u to kindly suggest me the best options. I ve consulted many docs but none of them cld show me a solution. Is pencillin the actual cause of my baldness or is it androgenetic alopaecia as told by one homeo doc??

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

Penicillin won’t cause baldness.

It could occur due to hormonal changes associated with androgenetic alopecia or chronic hair loss due to rheumatoid arthritis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
