Is Persistent Bacterial Infection In The Blood Suggestive Of Leukemia?

My husband had blood work, results show his blood was elevated and had a bacterial infection and was but on antibiotics for 27 days. He is having more blood work again to see how the antibiotics treated the infection. What happens next if the treatment did not work? Could he have leukemia?

Hello,

It is not a sign of leukaemia. You can go for a peripheral smear for reassurance.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
