Is Persistent Cough Along With Shortness Of Breath A Cause For Concern?
Hi there...I get strangled last night, passed out for a few seconds. My wife hit me in the chest and I jumped up to try to catch my breath. I have been short of breath since and a persistent cough. History of lupus, dvt, and pulmonary embolism. Should I be concerned?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have cough along with shortness of breath . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like COPD symptoms , acute bronchitis , acid reflux , asthmatic condition , sleeping apnea or upper respiratory infection . I would suggest you to consult chest specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order chest x-ray , blood test and check vitals along with vitals . Doctor may also order sleep study or refer you to ENT specialist for upper respiratory track infection or post nasal drip or allergy specialist for asthma . For now eat light at night , take benadryl twice a day and keep your head elevated while lying down . Doctor may also recommend CPAP machine after sleep study .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
