Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a heart murmur for a long time. sense I was in my early 20s. No one ever said anything abou it sense. I am now 66 and all the Drs I go to ask me if I know I have a murmur. Is it because it is getting worse or just because I m older? I go to a heart Dr every 6 mos.
I would suggest you undergo an echo-cardiogram to ensure all the valves of your heart are healthy, and all the chambers are working well for your age and health status. In addition, twice a year visit to a cardiologist is sufficient to monitor murmur.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ayesha Shareef, General & Family Physician
