Is Persistent High Fever In An Infant A Symptom Of Meningitis?

Hi! My 16 month old grandson has a fever. Dr says it s nothing but I m worried. His temp went up to 104 two nights ago. He has no symptoms besides fever and no appetite. Very crabby. Won t eat. What should we do? I m afraid it could be meningitis or something else.

Hello,

Consult a pediatrician and get evaluated. It can be a simple viral fever only. If there is neck stiffness and vomiting, meningitis has to be suspected.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
