Is Persistent Nasal And Chest Congestion A Symptom Of Pneumonia?

I have had a bad cold for two weeks and continue to feel very tired and continue to have quite a lot of nasal congestion. I am taking Sudafed for that condition. I have never experienced so much chest congestion with a cold before. It is much better, but I am wondering about my energy level.

I have had a bad cold for two weeks and continue to feel very tired. I had a great deal of chest congestion, but am no longer coughing up mucus. I am taking Sudafed for my continued nasal congestion, which controls it fairly well. Because I feel so tired, I am wondering if I might have pneumonia.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain cold and chest congestion can be due to common causes like Severe Upper Respiratory Tract Infection, chest infection, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and not necessarily Pneumonia as it is commonly associated with fever, chills , chest pain on breathing, nausea, sever fatigue etc..
Only fatigue cannot be considered causative for Pneumonia..
I would still suggest you to get confirmation done by consulting an Otolaryngologist or Pulmonologist and get evaluated and a clinical examination and investigations like throat swab culture, sputum culture, chest x ray and blood tests can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
You can be advised to take antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkiller, decongestant, mucolytics, anti allergics, warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and use of humidifier in your room..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
Drink plenty of warm water..
Take sufficient rest..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
