Is Persistent Pain And Swelling In Wrist A Symptom Of Gout?

My boyfriend has been haing pain in his wrist for 2 weeks now. At first he had some swelling but that was just for the first day. He thins it might be gout but I don t think it is. There is no redness and no further swelling since the first night. Do you have any ideas as what maybe happening. He does do some heavy lifting at work once in awhile. Also he has a routine doctors apt in a month so he thinks its ok to wait but I think he needs to call his doctor and make an appointment. Thank you.
