Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I m a 25 years old female and have been smoking 2-3 cigarettes per day for 4 years now. I have had a constant sore thoat for the past 3 months, it s worse in the morning and after I smoke (even one hit is enough). I m trying to quit smoking but I m worried that some irreversible damage has been made. I heard that sore throat could be a symptom of throat cancer. should I be worried?
It can be due to smoking which can cause chronic inflammatory changes to laryngeal soft tissue and vocal cords. For reassurance otolaryngologist review and laryngoscopy may be needed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
