Is Persistent Swelling In Feet And Legs A Cause For Concern?

good evening, I have high blood pressure controlled by medication, I am also obese - I weigh 275 and am 5ft 6in. 14 days ago I started walking and working on getting my health on track. I am up to 5 miles a day with a healthy diet. the last 2 days I have noticed that my feet and legs are swollen, this is not a normal issue for me. What should I be watching for or when should I visit my doctor if this continues? What would cause this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think that swelling of the legs is caused because of increased of your activity after a sedentary life. I suggest you to do a plan to exercise.Do not stay in a same position for a long time. If the swelling continues check the function of the kidneys.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Blerina Pasho, General & Family Physician
