Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Persistent Swelling On The Ankle A Cause For Concern?
Hello~The past several days, I have had swelling in my ankles, to the point they become quite uncomfortable. The swelling does go away while I sleep & am fine in the morning. Today at work I tried to elevate them as often as I could but after 3 hours of not having them up they are swollen again. Should I be concerned? I am going to be on a very long airplane flight coming up & not looking forward to what my ankles will look like when we get to our destination.
Welcome to HCM. I can understand that it could be difficult to goo through this every day. I will try my best to help you out here. The most important thing is that I need your age and whether you are taking any medication. As complete data is not given here, I am going to elaborate the most important cause of swelling of feet here. It commonly occurs in middle and people because of edema. Some blood pressure medications make it worse and bothersome. In that case, we usually change the drug. I would recommend visiting your physician to get a complete physical check-up as it is advisable before going on a long flight. I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to contact if you have any further questions.
sincerely, Dr. Waqas Hayat
