Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Having A Para Guard IUD?

Hi I am on my 3day of period. I have the para guard IUD in for 7 years. I have been super tires the past two weeks along with nausea and hot flashes the past week. I have been reading tons of posts about women becoming prego on this IUD. I took a test and it was negative is this all normal?

OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, it is possible to have pregnancy despite having a para guard IUD, but as you are having your periods it is unlikely that you are having pregnancy now. I would suggest you to have a course of Pantoprazole for 10 days in empty stomach.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sujoy S. Bhattacharjee, OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine
