Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. I pill is highly effective in preventing the pregnancy as you took with in the hour of sex. It is 95-98% effective in preventing the pregnancy. So it has just 0-5% failure rate in your case. Bleeding on the 23rd is a breakthrough bleeding due to progesterone withdrawal effect.

Sometimes, hormonal imbalance cause change in menstrual bleeding. Again you got light period on 5th december. Fever, headache, backache could be due to premenstrual symptoms, viral infection. But you confirm the pregnancy by blood HCG test at present time. You can go for urine pregnancy test 7 days after the expected date of the period. Mostly it will come negative for pregnancy. Avoid stress, take healthy diet, drink plenty of water and do regular exercise.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Best regards,
Dr. Sagar
