Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking Nordette Pill?

I had sex with my boyfriend last March 18 and took Nordette 20 minutes after as prescribed (with 2 dosages, 12 hours apart and 4 pills each). It has been 6 days and I still haven t experienced withdrawal bleeding. I have an irregular period. What are the chances of me becoming pregnant?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Nordette contains Levonorgestrel - Ethinyl estradiol. It is used commonly as a birth control pill.
However, Nordette can also be used as emergency contraceptive pill.
Based on the description, what you have done seems to be right.
Intake of pills would protect against pregnancy by causing withdrawal bleeding within 3 weeks from the day of taking the pill. Most often, it happens by a week, but sometimes it can be little late. Kindly wait for this to happen.
If the bleeding does not happen by 3 weeks, you need to seek medical attention immediately as there could be a possibility of its failure.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
