Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife had date on17 October and we had sex on 27october without any protection. What are the chances of getting pregnant. And she took option 72 contraceptive pill after 5 hours of sex .pls answer to my doubt whether we are safe now or should consult a doctor ??
She needs to get breakthrough bleeding like her periods within 5 to 7 days of the pill intake.
If the bleeding doesn't happen by 10 days, there could be a chance that it could have failed to protect against pregnancy, as it's failure rate is bout 10 to 15%.
Kindly wait for the bleeding to happen. If it doesn't, take urine pregnancy test and consult Obstetrician for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
