Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking Plan B Pill?

Hi, I took a plan b pill the day after I ve had unprotected sex. That was a week ago and now I ve had unprotected sex again, can I take another one to be on the safe side of not being pregnant? If I am pregnant it will not change anything currently in my life but I would like to save up a bit more before that happens

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Plan B is an emergency contraceptive pill. It would prevent unwanted or accidental pregnancy when it is taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. Earlier it is taken, protection would be better.
It would cause withdrawal bleeding within 3 weeks from the day of intake of the pill.
Emergency contraceptive pill only protect against pregnancy when you take them after intercourse. You need to use other means of contraception like condoms and/or sperimicidal agents till you get withdrawal bleeding in case you desire to have intercourse again.
You can still get pregnant if you take emergency contraception and then have intercourse again without using another kind of contraception. If you still don’t want to get pregnant, you will need to take emergency contraceptive pill again.
Hence, you need to take another pill again within 72 hours of having unprotected intercourse.
Kindly ensure to take adequate protection next time.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
